Blue Wave
2009
Oil on canvas
29 x 43.5"
In Blue Wave, color enters the scene, and the ocean is subject. A protagonist is absent so that the viewer can assume her role and look unhindered upon the landscape. Oil paint is used in a watercolor-like fashion to emulate the nature of the subject.

The repeated image in Blue Wave references a 35 mm still film image, emphasizing the passing of time between frames and the photographic nature of the source image.
